Some wedding days feel beautiful.
Some wedding days feel emotional.
And then there are wedding days like Preston and Portia's—days that feel like stepping directly into a timeless love story.
From the moment we arrived at Brighton Abbey, we knew this was going to be something extraordinary. Every detail had been thoughtfully chosen, every moment intentionally planned, and every space transformed into a celebration that felt both luxurious and deeply meaningful.
As a Dallas wedding photography and videography team, we have the honor of documenting so many incredible wedding days, but Preston and Portia's black tie wedding at Brighton Abbey was one of those weddings that leaves a lasting impression long after the final dance.
With elegant black and ivory details, Christ-centered moments, romantic architecture, dreamy florals, and one of the sweetest couples imaginable, their wedding day was a perfect blend of sophistication, faith, family, and joy.
Brighton Abbey has become one of our favorite wedding venues for good reason.
The venue's stunning white chapel creates a timeless backdrop unlike anything else in North Texas. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light while crystal chandeliers add an elegant glow throughout the day.
The chapel's unique architecture immediately captures your attention. White wooden pews line the aisle, creating a clean and sophisticated aesthetic that allows every detail to shine.
For Preston and Portia's ceremony, the chapel was transformed into a breathtaking garden of white florals and loose greenery. Hanging floral installations cascaded above the ceremony space, creating an almost whimsical atmosphere.
At the center stood a beautiful wooden cross draped in flowing white fabric—a powerful reminder that Christ remained at the center of their marriage and wedding celebration.
The result was elegant, romantic, and deeply meaningful.
The Most Elegant Wedding Details
Before the celebrations began, we spent time documenting the details that told the story of their wedding day.
Portia's flat lay was one of the most beautiful we have photographed.
Every piece felt intentional and elevated.
The floral design, beautifully crafted by Boujee Bloom, carried the wedding aesthetic seamlessly from beginning to end. White calla lilies, lush greenery, and romantic floral installations appeared throughout the chapel and reception spaces, creating an elegant, timeless atmosphere that perfectly reflected Preston and Portia's sophisticated black tie vision.
Their wedding invitation suite featured elegant calligraphy and stunning swan artwork that immediately set the tone for the sophisticated celebration ahead. The invitations were paired with envelopes lined in dramatic black inlay, creating a striking contrast against the soft ivory paper.
Calla lilies appeared throughout the design elements, tying together the entire wedding aesthetic.
Luxurious black satin ribbon added a dramatic touch while sparkling diamond jewelry completed the elegant collection.
And then there was the ring set.
Portia's breathtaking tear-cut diamond caught the light from every angle. Paired with perfectly matching wedding bands, the rings were timeless, refined, and absolutely stunning.
Nearby sat her ivory Badgley Mischka heels featuring a chunky heel and a beautiful linen bow across the toe.
Every detail felt classic.
Every detail felt intentional.
Every detail felt unmistakably Preston and Portia.
A Morning Filled with Prayer and Meaning
One of the things we loved most about this wedding day was how intentionally faith was woven throughout every moment.
Before stepping into her wedding dress, Portia gathered with her bridesmaids for prayer.
There is something incredibly powerful about watching a bride pause in the midst of wedding-day excitement to focus on what truly matters.
Surrounded by the women she loves most, Portia shared a heartfelt prayer before the celebrations began.
The room filled with emotion.
The anticipation was building.
And everyone knew something incredibly special was about to happen.
A Mother's Love and a Father's First Look
One of our favorite moments from the day happened inside the romantic chapel before guests arrived.
As sunlight streamed through the massive windows and crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead, Portia's mother carefully placed her veil.
It was one of those quiet moments that often become some of the most meaningful memories from a wedding day.
The gentle smiles.
The tears held back.
The realization that this moment only happens once.
Soon afterward came another emotional highlight.
Portia shared a first look with her father.
As he turned and saw his daughter fully dressed as a bride for the first time, emotion immediately filled the room.
There were smiles.
There were tears.
And there was overwhelming pride.
These are the moments that photographs preserve forever.
Classic Black Tie Style
Preston and his groomsmen looked incredibly sharp in classic black suits accented with rich green ties.
The calla lily boutonnieres added a sophisticated touch while perfectly complementing the floral design throughout the wedding.
The mothers wore elegant emerald dresses that brought a beautiful richness to the overall color palette.
Meanwhile, Portia's bridesmaids wore soft mint green gowns that felt fresh, romantic, and timeless.
The flower girl looked absolutely adorable in a whimsical mint tulle dress paired with a floral headband that completed her fairytale-inspired look.
Together, the wedding party created an elegant color palette of black, ivory, emerald, mint, and white that felt both modern and timeless.
A Relaxed Morning with the Guys
While the ladies spent the morning getting ready, Preston enjoyed a laid-back morning surrounded by some of his closest friends.
The groom's suite was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and excitement as everyone prepared for the day ahead. Between getting dressed and sharing stories, the guys enjoyed a few friendly games of pool, soaking in those final moments before the ceremony.
Before guests arrived, we slipped into Brighton Abbey's breathtaking white chapel for groom portraits.
With natural light pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows and crystal chandeliers sparkling overhead, Preston looked incredibly sharp in his classic black suit and green tie. The clean architecture of the chapel created a timeless backdrop for portraits that felt sophisticated, masculine, and effortlessly elegant.
Afterward, the groomsmen joined him for formal photographs around the chapel grounds. Their genuine friendship was evident in every frame, creating a collection of images filled with both classic style and authentic connection.
A Christ-Centered Ceremony
As guests took their seats inside the stunning chapel, a violinist filled the room with beautiful music.
The atmosphere felt peaceful.
Reverent.
Anticipatory.
The Moment Time Stood Still
As the violinist played and guests rose to their feet, all eyes turned toward the chapel entrance.
But no one was watching more intently than Preston.
The moment Portia appeared beneath the hanging florals, time seemed to stand still.
His expression said everything.
The anticipation.
The admiration.
The overwhelming realization that the woman of his dreams was about to become his wife.
As she made her way down the aisle, his eyes never left her.
It was one of those beautiful, unspoken moments that reminds everyone why weddings matter so much.
Then came one of the most breathtaking moments of the day.
Portia walked alone down the aisle carrying a bouquet of hanging white florals.
The movement of her gown.
The softness of the flowers.
The glow of natural light.
It felt almost cinematic.
Their ceremony beautifully reflected their faith and commitment to one another.
Every word spoken pointed back to Christ.
Every vow carried intention.
Every prayer carried meaning.
You could feel the love surrounding them.
And when they were finally pronounced husband and wife, the joy was contagious.
Their First Kiss as Husband and Wife
Following their Christ-centered ceremony, Preston and Portia shared their first kiss as husband and wife beneath the glow of Brighton Abbey's stunning chapel.
What began as a sweet kiss quickly turned into one of the most romantic moments of the day as Preston pulled his bride close, kissed her long and passionately, and swept her into a gentle dip.
The crowd erupted in cheers.
The newlyweds couldn't stop smiling.
And just like that, they began their first walk back up the aisle as husband and wife, surrounded by the love and celebration of their family and friends.
As they exited the chapel together, Preston dipped Portia dramatically in the aisle before continuing down as husband and wife.
The crowd erupted with cheers.
It was the perfect ending to a beautiful ceremony.
Portraits Inside and Outside Brighton Abbey
Following the ceremony, we captured family portraits and wedding party photographs inside the chapel.
The clean white architecture created the most timeless backdrop imaginable.
Then it was time for portraits with just the two of them.
Some of our favorite images from the entire wedding happened during this part of the day.
The quiet moments.
The laughter.
The excitement.
The realization that they were finally married.
Brighton Abbey offers endless opportunities for elegant portraits, and we made full use of every beautiful corner of the property.
As sunset approached, we stepped outside for golden-hour portraits around the venue's iconic limestone staircases and castle-inspired architecture.
The warm light wrapped around them perfectly.
The dreamy architecture elevated every frame.
And Preston and Portia looked absolutely incredible together.
An Elegant Reception Celebration
Guests transitioned into a reception space that continued the black tie aesthetic beautifully.
Black and ivory details appeared throughout the room.
Every chair was wrapped with an elegant black bow.
The tables featured sophisticated décor that felt modern and refined without feeling overdone.
Dinner began with custom salads served as the first course of their plated meal.
Guests mingled, laughed, and enjoyed cocktail hour in the gardens while the celebration continued to unfold.
Every element felt elevated.
Every detail felt intentional.
The Sweetest Wedding Cakes
One of the standout details at the reception was the stunning cake display created by Delicious Cakes.
Their elegant three-tier ivory wedding cake perfectly complemented the sophisticated black tie design of the day. Clean, modern lines gave the cake a timeless feel, while a dramatic black bow draped across the tiers added just the right amount of romance and style.
Simple.
Sophisticated.
Absolutely beautiful.
Beside it sat one of the cutest groom's cakes we've ever seen—a miniature groom's suit complete with a green bow tie that perfectly reflected Preston's style and added a playful touch to the celebration.
Not only were the cakes beautiful works of art, but they were also absolutely delicious, giving guests the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable evening.
Dancing Into Married Life
When it was time for the reception introductions, Preston and Portia made an entrance that perfectly reflected their personalities.
They entered dancing.
Laughing.
Completely soaking in the excitement of the moment.
Their energy immediately filled the room.
Thanks to the incredible entertainment by DJ Connection, the reception atmosphere was electric from the very beginning. The music kept guests engaged, the dance floor packed, and the celebration moving seamlessly from one unforgettable moment to the next.
Guests cheered as the newlyweds made their way onto the black and white checkered dance floor and transitioned directly into their first dance.
Watching them together, it was impossible not to smile.
The sweetness between them was undeniable.
As the evening continued, DJ Connection kept the energy high, creating the perfect soundtrack for heartfelt parent dances, emotional toasts, glow stick-filled celebrations, and a dance floor packed with family and friends making memories together.
It was the kind of reception where nobody wanted the night to end.
Heartfelt Toasts and Family Traditions
As dinner continued, loved ones shared some incredibly meaningful toasts.
Stories were told.
Memories were shared.
Laughter filled the room.
And more than a few tears appeared.
The speeches painted a beautiful picture of who Preston and Portia are individually and who they have become together.
Parent dances followed and quickly became some of the most emotional moments of the evening.
The pride.
The gratitude.
The love.
It was all there.
Dreamy Sunset Portraits
One of our favorite traditions on wedding days is stealing our couples away for a few minutes during sunset.
And Preston and Portia's sunset session was pure magic.
We explored the limestone staircases and castle-inspired architecture surrounding Brighton Abbey while the evening light turned golden.
These moments often become some of our couples' favorite memories because it's one of the first opportunities they have all day to simply breathe and be together.
No timeline.
No pressure.
Just the two of them.
The images we created during sunset felt elegant, romantic, and timeless.
Exactly like their love story.
Glow Sticks, Dancing, and Celebration
Once the dance floor officially opened, the party took off.
Guests filled the black and white dance floor from wall to wall.
A massive group photo brought everyone together before the celebration continued.
Soon glow sticks appeared.
The music got louder.
The energy got bigger.
And the dance floor stayed packed.
Everyone—from grandparents to flower girls—was out celebrating.
The joy was contagious.
The laughter was nonstop.
And the memories being created were priceless.
A Perfect Ending with a Private Last Dance
As the evening came to a close, Preston and Portia shared one final moment together.
Away from the crowd.
Away from the excitement.
Just the two of them.
Standing in front of Brighton Abbey, they shared a private last dance beneath the glow of the evening lights.
It was quiet.
Romantic.
Intentional.
And the perfect way to end a wedding day that had been centered on love, faith, family, and celebration.
