There is something incredibly beautiful about a wedding day that brings together deep tradition, family, faith, and a little bit of Texas magic. This wedding began with an elegant Catholic ceremony at St. Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell and ended beneath the wide-open Texas sky at Lucky Spur Ranch — with golden-hour portraits, fall colors, dancing, and a celebration filled with so much joy.

From the very beginning, this day felt intentional.

The bride chose romantic details with vintage touches, delicate lace, loose greenery, and warm gold accents. The bridesmaids wore mismatched fall colors that brought richness and personality to the wedding palette. The ceremony centered completely around their faith, including a full Catholic Mass, Communion, prayer, and a beautiful presentation of flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

And once the ceremony was complete, the celebration moved to Lucky Spur Ranch, where rustic Texas scenery met elegant wedding details for the perfect fall reception.

Elegant Gold and Greenery Wedding Details

We began the day photographing all of those little details that help tell the complete story of a wedding.

Gold accents were woven throughout the design, paired with loose, organic greenery that softened the entire look. It was elegant without feeling overly formal and romantic without losing the natural warmth of a fall Texas wedding.

The bridal flat lays were styled with an editorial approach, incorporating the bride's accessories and carefully selected details into photographs that felt timeless and refined.

I always love photographing these pieces because years from now, they become such a beautiful reminder of everything a bride chose for her wedding day. The jewelry, invitations, rings, shoes, perfume, florals and sentimental pieces may seem small individually, but together they tell an important part of the story.

A Vintage-Inspired Lace Wedding Gown

And then there was the gown.

The bride chose the most beautiful vintage-inspired lace wedding dress, filled with delicate texture and romantic detail.

Before she stepped into it, we photographed the gown hanging on the door — one of those classic bridal photographs that I will never stop loving. The architecture and simplicity of the doorway allowed the lace to really stand out while giving the photograph that timeless, old-world feeling that worked beautifully with the style of the day.

Once it was time to get dressed, her girls gathered around her to help.

These are some of my favorite moments to photograph because they aren't simply about putting on a wedding dress. They're about the women standing beside the bride as she steps into one of the biggest days of her life.

Hands carefully adjusting lace.

Someone fastening the final buttons.

Bridesmaids making sure every detail is perfect.

Those quiet moments become part of the story too.

Fall Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

The bridesmaids wore a gorgeous collection of mismatched fall-colored dresses.

Instead of every bridesmaid wearing the exact same shade, the palette incorporated complementary autumn tones that gave the bridal party so much dimension. Against the greenery and warm Texas landscape, the colors photographed beautifully.

Mismatched bridesmaid dresses are one of my favorite ways to create a wedding party that feels coordinated without looking overly uniform. Different tones and silhouettes allow each bridesmaid to have her own look while still creating one cohesive wedding palette.

For a fall wedding, especially, the result is stunning.

An Emotional First Look With Dad

Before the ceremony, the bride shared a first look with her dad.

There are certain moments during a wedding day when everything else seems to disappear for a second, and father-daughter first looks are often one of them.

He turned around and saw his daughter as a bride for the first time, and we were able to simply document what happened naturally.

No elaborate posing.

No recreating the moment.

Just a father seeing his little girl in her wedding gown.

These are exactly the kinds of photographs that become family history.

A First Touch and Prayer Before the Ceremony

The bride and groom chose not to see each other before their Catholic wedding ceremony, but they still wanted a private moment together.

So instead of a traditional first look, they shared a first touch and prayer.

Standing just out of view of one another, they reached for each other's hands and prayed together before walking into the church.

It was quiet, emotional and completely centered on what the day truly meant to them.

I love first touches for couples who want to preserve that traditional moment of seeing each other for the first time at the altar. They still get a few minutes together before the ceremony without taking anything away from that walk down the aisle.

And adding prayer made this one even more meaningful.

A Catholic Wedding Ceremony at St. Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell

Their wedding ceremony took place at St. Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell, Texas.

A Catholic wedding Mass has a rhythm and reverence all its own.

Rather than rushing through the ceremony to get to the reception, the couple was able to be completely present in the sacrament of marriage.

From the processional and readings to the exchange of vows and rings, every part of the ceremony carried meaning.

One of the most important parts of photographing a Catholic wedding is understanding that the ceremony isn't simply another part of the timeline. These moments are sacred to the couple and their families, and they deserve to be documented thoughtfully and respectfully.

Communion and the Sacred Moments of the Mass

During the Mass, we photographed the moments that truly represented the couple's faith and the significance of their Catholic marriage ceremony.

Communion was especially important.

Rather than focusing only on the obvious wedding moments — the kiss, the rings and the walk down the aisle — I wanted their photographs to preserve the parts of the Mass that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

The prayers.

The Eucharist.

Communion.

The quiet expressions between the bride and groom.

Their families worshipping alongside them.

These are photographs that tell the complete story of their ceremony rather than simply documenting that a ceremony happened.

Presenting Flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary

One of the most beautiful moments of the ceremony was the couple's Marian devotion.

The bride and groom presented flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary, pausing together for a quiet moment of prayer.

There is something so timeless about this Catholic wedding tradition.

In the middle of a day filled with excitement, conversations, photographs and celebration, everything became still.

It was just the two of them, their faith, and a moment of devotion.

Photographs like these are incredibly important because they preserve not only what a wedding looked like, but what mattered to the couple.

Wedding Portraits at St. Ann Catholic Parish

After the ceremony, we used the courtyard at St. Ann Catholic Parish for formal photographs.

The courtyard provided a beautiful transition from the traditional church ceremony into the more relaxed celebration that would follow at Lucky Spur Ranch.

We photographed family, the wedding party and the newlyweds before everyone headed to the reception.

I love building time into a wedding photography timeline for portraits at the ceremony location whenever possible. Churches often have architectural details, courtyards, walkways and landscaping that give couples a completely different look from their reception venue.

It means one wedding day can produce two entirely different portrait galleries while still feeling cohesive.

Groom Getting Ready and Groomsmen Photos at Lucky Spur Ranch

Over at Lucky Spur Ranch, we photographed the groom getting ready with his guys.

The ranch setting was such a fun contrast to the elegance of St. Ann Catholic Parish.

The guys were able to relax, get ready and take their formal photographs surrounded by the rustic character of the property.

Lucky Spur Ranch gives us so many opportunities for photographs that feel authentically Texas without becoming overly staged. The natural textures, ranch atmosphere and open spaces create an amazing backdrop for groom and groomsmen portraits.

And then it was time for one of my favorite parts of any wedding day.

Golden hour.

Golden Hour Wedding Party Photos at Lucky Spur Ranch

As the sun began dropping toward the horizon, the entire landscape changed.

That warm Texas sunlight poured across Lucky Spur Ranch, giving us the dreamiest light for wedding party photographs.

The bridesmaids' fall-colored dresses absolutely came alive during golden hour. The mix of warm tones, the guys dressed beside them, and the open landscape created photographs that felt elevated while still maintaining that relaxed ranch feeling.

We photographed the entire wedding party together before sending everyone off to enjoy cocktail hour and giving the newlyweds a few minutes alone with us.

And that is when the real magic happened.

Sunset Bride and Groom Portraits

Sunset portraits are one of the reasons I build wedding photography timelines so intentionally.

We aren't guessing when we'll sneak away.

We plan for it.

Because when the light is right, even 10 or 15 uninterrupted minutes with the bride and groom can create some of the most beautiful photographs in their entire gallery.

We let them walk, laugh, hold onto each other and simply enjoy the fact that they were finally married.

After a full morning of getting ready, an emotional Catholic Mass, family portraits and wedding party photographs, this was their chance to slow down.

Just the two of them.

Married.

At sunset.

Romantic Flowing Veil Wedding Photos

Of course, we had to use that gorgeous veil.

The evening breeze gave us the perfect opportunity for romantic, flowing veil photographs during the bride and groom's golden-hour session.

Some were soft and intimate, with the veil wrapping around the two of them.

Others were more dramatic, allowing the lace and movement of the veil to fill the frame.

I love combining both styles.

My approach to wedding photography has always been about creating a gallery with variety — editorial portraits alongside genuine movement, classic photographs alongside completely candid moments.

The result should feel beautiful now and still feel beautiful decades from now.

A Lucky Spur Ranch Wedding Reception

As the sun disappeared, everyone headed into the reception at Lucky Spur Ranch.

The elegant gold details and loose greenery looked gorgeous against the rustic surroundings of the ranch, creating a reception that felt polished without losing its Texas personality.

And once the formalities were complete, the dance floor opened.

This is where the energy of the day completely shifted.

After all of the quiet, emotional moments earlier in the day, everyone was ready to celebrate.

We photographed the first dances, guests filling the dance floor, laughter, hugs and all of the wonderfully unpredictable moments that happen once the party really gets going.

Those dancing photographs are always some of my favorites because nobody is thinking about the camera anymore.

They're simply living the night.

St. Ann Catholic Parish and Lucky Spur Ranch Wedding Photography

This wedding was the perfect combination of faith, elegance, fall color and Texas charm.

From a vintage lace bridal gown and sophisticated gold details to an emotional first look with Dad, a prayerful first touch, Catholic Mass and Communion at St. Ann Catholic Parish, every part of the ceremony felt meaningful.

Then we got to completely change the scenery.

Golden-hour wedding party portraits, romantic flowing veil photographs, sunset bride and groom portraits, rustic groomsmen photos and a night of dancing at Lucky Spur Ranch gave the second half of the wedding an entirely different energy.

And that's what I love so much about wedding photography.

A wedding gallery shouldn't just be filled with pretty pictures.

It should bring you back.

Back to your dad's face when he first saw you in your wedding gown.

Back to holding your future husband's hand while praying together without seeing each other.

Back to walking down the aisle.

Back to receiving Communion together for the first time as husband and wife.

Back to laying flowers before Mary.

Back to that golden Texas sunset.

And back to dancing with all of your favorite people after one of the biggest days of your lives.

If you're planning a Catholic wedding at St. Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell, a reception at Lucky Spur Ranch, or a wedding anywhere in Dallas–Fort Worth and North Texas, I would love to help you create a photography and film experience that preserves all of it — from the sacred moments to the completely wild dance-floor ones.

Because your wedding photographs should do more than show you what your wedding looked like.

They should remind you exactly how it felt.
